December do-overs

kiss away the past year. I'm ready for a do-over

kiss away the past year. I’m ready for a do-overs

What is so great about December? I began this post thinking I like winter because I love wearing sweaters. No. I don’t own any ugly Christmas sweaters. Not my bag.

Soft and fluffy is a recurring winter theme for me. Layering up all warm and cozy on a blustery day makes me smile. Add a hat, gloves and a scarf, and I’m in heaven.

The problem is sweaters are not only worn in December. I wear them whenever it is cold. Erfffff… There had to be something remarkable about the last month of the year (other than fuzzy cashmere cardigans).

time for renewal

Working in retail management for as long as I can remember, December has always been about putting in extra hours. Strategies, promotions and sales goals dominate my thoughts until after Christmas.

As holiday craziness slows down, I breathe deeply and welcome the new year. Where did the time go? Wasn’t it just summer?

End of the year means there must be a beginning of something else. The year doesn’t simply fall into a void leaving us floating in space. I am picturing Charlie Bucket and Grandpa Joe floating aimlessly after drinking a fizzy drink.

Random, I know but there it is.

Each year I welcome opportunities for personal growth. Are there any take-away lessons from 2013 I don’t want to repeat? Duh. Been there, done that, move on. Can anyone say neon???? Yuck.

do me over please

2013 was a year full of change. Some good, while other changes I care not to remember. I love the idea of washing the year away with a glass of champagne and a romantic kiss.

What will 2014 hold? Through my search for spirituality, I am learning to let go of the future because I can’t control it. Next year, I plan on becoming totally zen-like and let things flow over me.

Maybe I will find a new hobby. How about a new friend? I will definitely get a new sweater. Perhaps I will encounter the beginning of something extraordinary and spectacular. I wont settle for anything else (I’m worth it).

December discoveries

What joy awaits me this December? So far, I’ve been totally hormonal and depressed. When I look past the surface, I realize there has been some pretty cool things going on.

I spent the better part of the past few days dancing around in my underwear getting ready for Miss Mimi Cupcakes first solo. Discovering the inner burlesque dancer has been the best.

I am feeling successful in my new career at Victoria’s Secret. I absolutely love working there (the whole place is pink and smells delightful). True, I haven’t been in a tail for awhile but it is cold outside and mermaids need better weather.

Ski season began here. True, I haven’t been up the hill yet, but I will soon. Maybe I will take lessons to improve my form. It’s another growth opportunity waiting to happen.

What do you love about December? Do you get half the month off (lucky bastards) or work until your eyes bleed. Ok. Probably not that hard, but you get the picture. I had to throw in a little pity party for good measure.

Share your favorite things about the last month of the year. OOOOOh now I have Julie Andrews in my head singing  favorite things. It’s probably time for bed.

Raindrops on roses…

This post was inspired by Mama Kat’s weekly writing prompt 1.) Something you love about December.
